The Walking Dead: 8 Dumbest Moments In Rick's Last Episode
4. The Lack Of Closure
The Walking Dead has a problem with consequences. Though it's keen to dish out major deaths and out-of-nowhere plot twists, the writers are seemingly incapable of exploring the fallout of them. As a result, it's rare that we're given an insight into how actions actually affect these characters outside of their initial emotional response. Things just happen, and then the writers move swiftly on.
We've seen this with Beth's death in Season 5, with the time skip following No Way Out, and even Morgan's absence in the current run. Carl's death was given lip service and informed the narrative going forward, but when it came to characters apart from Rick, nobody really got any closure with his demise.
Sadly, the same thing has happened with Rick. He spends his final episode alone with his thoughts, and "dies" in isolation, without any of the characters being able to make their peace with him. Even worse, the show skips years ahead in the episode's final moments, leaving fans once again without the satisfaction of seeing this cast come to terms with the death of a pivotal character.
