5. The CGI Backdrops

Okay, so this one has nothing to do with the plot or the characters, but holy hell was the CGI particularly bad in the last episode. As always, The Walking Dead completely dropped the ball when it came to creating convincing CGI backdrops. Even basic ones, like the simple countryside exterior for Jon Bernthal's returning scene, looked artificial and unfinished.

In part, it could be argued that a sense of artificiality was intentional, as after all, these scenes took place inside Rick's head. That's why you can have a picturesque sunset like the one which punctuated Rick and Hershel's final scene together. Unfortunately, they don't look off in a dreamlike way, but rather in a classic Walking Dead way.

Every time one of these popped up it was a reminder of the problems the show has always struggled with, and made everyone think of that terrible trash land CGI backdrop from Season 7.
