The Walking Dead: 8 Things "Remember" Got Right (And 2 It Didn't)

2. You Can Never Quarantine The Past

Much of The Walking Dead has been about not so much actively trying to forget the past, but not having much time or need to dwell on it. At this point the majority of the Rick Grimes Globetrotters have become less people and more vessels that float aimlessly through the zombie-infested American South, without much thought of what they're headed towards, and simply a dogged pursuit of survival. It's been a while since anybody's brought up their lives before everything collapsed in on itself, or even events that happened earlier on during the show. They managed to skip over ever really discussing Beth and Tyreese's deaths, and in in-universe time that's only been about a week ago. Being relatively secured and settled gave pause for thought for the first time since...like, the start of the first season? Both Carl and Rick reflected on the loss of Lori Grimes, and Carol seemed to be actively pursuing a return to her pre-zombie hunting life as a stay-at-home mom and faithful wife. Much to the disgust of Daryl, who spent most of the episode being wilfully contrarian. And refusing to have his vest washed. Gross.
