14. The World Before
In the mid-season finale, Alexandria deals with Siddiq's death and the reveal that lovable Dante is actually a Whisperer spy. Rosita struggles with grief, and Gabriel puts his faith, leadership, and morality to the test.
The drama with Gabriel is the best aspect of The World Before, as he gets the best development of his character yet, brutally murdering Dante for his betrayal and confronting the rising darkness within himself.
It's letdown slightly by Rosita, who once again is sidelined by the script despite her potential, but between Gabriel's rage and the final twist where Daryl, Carol, Aaron and their group get trapped by Alpha's cave-dwelling horde, it's a brilliantly gripping hour that more than holds up.
