The Walking Dead: Every Season 3 Episode Ranked Worst To Best
6. Seed
The first episode of the season, Seed picks up about eight months after the previous finale, with the group in dire straits as they attempt to find shelter and food. Lori is heavily pregnant, and everyone is noticeably beaten down.
Seed's strength lies in its ability to effectively mix its many tones whilst laying the groundwork for the drama to come. Rick and Lori's fraught relationship is laid out for all to see, the group spend their nights hanging onto whatever hope they have left, and later they arm up to clear a walker-infested prison.
Excellently well-paced and benefitting in its action from the show's noticeably improved budget, the premiere makes sure not to dwell on past developments and gives each primary cast member a chance to shine (though Andrew Lincoln and Scott Wilson are major standouts).
The season rarely topped itself from here, and it's obvious from the first scene why.
