Home is something of a turning point episode for the core group and the trajectory of the season.

Having miraculously escaped Woodbury, Rick and the group know they've just started something with The Governor and his people, and spend the episode debating how best to proceed. Daryl, meanwhile, reunited with his brother, heads off into the forest to fend for himself.

It's a slow but necessary episode which sheds light onto Daryl and Merle's relationship and abusive pasts, though it knows when to speed things up with brilliant bursts of action, such as when Daryl saves a family trapped on a bridge, and when The Governor viciously attacks the prison with a truckload of walkers.

Home allows Daryl to finally realise he needs to stay with Rick, reluctantly introduces Merle as a possible ally, and ends with a true shock when The Governor attacks.
