The Walking Dead: Every Season 9 Episode Ranked Worst To Best

9. The Storm

The Walking Dead
AMC

The Walking Dead's season nine finale is the show's most polarising farewell, as the various communities race to survive a vicious storm in the wake of an impossible tragedy. It's slow and character-driven, guided by its characters as they attempt to deal with their troubles and face another day.

The most compelling part of the episode comes from Negan, who is finally let out of his cell and uses his freedom to risk his life saving Judith and Dog from the storm. Another highlight comes from Lydia, who's grown suicidal thanks to her mother and is shunned from the group.

With stunning set pieces and melancholy tone, The Storm is hard-hitting and subtle in its depiction of grief, but works wonders to make sure the characters are shown at their worst. The fact that it ends on such a surprisingly hopeful note - a snowball fight - is just the icing on the cake.
