The Walking Dead Mid-Season 7 Premiere: 6 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Rock In The Road'

Downs...

3. Gregory

The Walking Dead Gregory Maggie Rick
Gene Page/AMC

Not for the first time this season, Gregory's presence feels like a sticking point in the episode. His scene happens quite early on, so it's out of the way and easier to forget about, but it's easily one of the weakest aspects of this instalment.

We get it: Gregory is craven, and he's a dick. He's made his position clear plenty of times before now, but once again the show is employing its technique of beating us over the head with a particular character point.

Once again we get a scene of the same old schtick: Maggie, Sasha, Rick arguing with him, trying to make him see reason; him refusing to help. In the end it's moot, because they're going to do it with or without him (which was obviously the case), and it just eats up valuable time that really could and should have been spent on a couple of other moments.
