The Walking Dead Season 11 Review - 3 Downs & 5 Ups From "A New Deal"

5. Up - Ezekiel Wants To Stay At The Commonwealth

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 18 Sebastian Death
AMC

Carol may have saved all of her friends from certain doom inside and outside of the walls, but not all of them are ready to return home. Despite many fan favourites now on their way back to their homes, the former King of the Kingdom, Ezekiel, has remained.

After saying her goodbyes to everyone, Carol pays a visit to her former lover who is setting up the petting zoo he operates for Founders Day. As she to convince Ezekiel to come with them, he tells her that he is staying for the people, so that they can avoid the outcome that happened to his own community and avoid unnecessary death.

While the final season has seen Carol and Ezekiel still having feelings for one another after they broke up due to Henry's fate, it also shows how different they both are in how they choose to help the people around them and what they believe the right thing is. Even though he is aware of the advanced medicine and equipment to help him with his cancer, Zeke's cause to the good of the community is what has driven him to stay there.

These actions not only make this an emotional moment for two characters, but shows why Ezekiel is a favourite for many who are glad that he outlived his comic-book counterpart.
