The Walking Dead Season 11 Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs From "For Blood"
7. DOWN: Pope's Boring Death
I mentioned last week that Pope has really struggled to make a mark on the show, but I was hopeful he'd maybe show some hidden depth moving forward. As it stands, though, this isn't going to happen, because at the end of For Blood he meets his maker in the most underwhelming way.
Throughout the episode, it seems as though he's going to confront Daryl or even come to blows with him. It's also teased that he might finally come face-to-face with Maggie, who he's been hunting all season.
Neither of these things happen. In the end, his callous disregard for his men leads Leah to stab him to death and take his place as the leader of the Reapers (which we'll get to). He doesn't fight, his doesn't protest, and he does face any of his biggest rivals.
It's good to see him go, but Pope's demise should have been a lot more satisfying.
