The Walking Dead Season 11 Review - 7 Ups & 1 Down From "Outpost 22"

5. Up - Ezekiel and Negan Finally Meet

It's hard to imagine that even in the final season, there are still characters from the large ensemble who have yet to share any screen time together. And Outpost 22 treated its fans to just that, as two former leaders who once opposed each other and their values make an uneasy alliance.

After being imprisoned by the Commonwealth and forced to clear debris off a railway track, Ezekiel's worry over Kelly and his disgusting gruel soon turns into one filled with rage when he is joined by Negan. Having disdain for the former leader of the Saviours for mistreating and torturing his people, Ezekiel begrudgingly listens to his plan on how to potentially escape with everyone.

Despite both having been in the show for years at this point, it's hard to think that it is only now that actors Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Khary Payton have appeared for their first scene together in their respective roles. It's one that was certainly worth the wait though as the two give off some of their best performances throughout the entire show, and their characters' personal arcs shaped to create a brilliant moment filled with so much variety of emotions.
