The Walking Dead Season 11 Review - 7 Ups & 1 Down From "Outpost 22"

6. Up - Maggie Escaping from the Commonwealth Soldiers

While everyone else was captured by Pamela's people and on their way to the Commonwealth's prison, the opening revealed that among their prisoners was Maggie. However, the soldiers of the Commonwealth Army messed with the wrong mother in an action-packed opening.

After waking up and finding Gabriel and Rosita in the same truck as her, they manage to escape, but not before Maggie is dragged back in and nearly killed by one of the armoured guards. During their fight, a gun goes off and kills the driver, forcing the truck to smash into a tree, with only Maggie as the lone survivor from the wreckage.

Throughout the years, TWD has provided some great scenes as the heroes escape from the clutches of evil. Here, it was again brilliant to see a great, dramatic scene used to open what was ultimately a thrilling episode.

This sequence also does a good job of setting up another revenge-filled adventure for Maggie, as flashbacks revealed that the Commonwealth took her son Hershel away from her. Demonstrating her taste for getting back towards those who wronged her and the lengths she will go to for her child earlier in the season, the writers have put Maggie on one emotional journey after another.
