8. Would Gasoline Have Expired By Now?
Let's. Get. Boring. The gasoline decay rate isn't going to set any pulses racing, but it could potentially bring The Walking Dead into disrepute. Until the moment Rick gave his heartbreaking speech to the unconscious, stricken Carl, it has reportedly been 554 days since the sheriff woke from him own coma. That's just over 18 months. That actually doesn't seem like very long for a show in its sixth season, but for gasoline, that IS a long time. Gas stations across America would've been drained dry in the flurry of panicked citizens seeking escape. We can safely assume that not long after the outbreak, fresh gasoline was all-but-gone. That means all of the cars in the show today were last refuelled around 18 months ago. Wouldn't the fuel have expired by then? Science experts around the world (via Google...) suggest that gasoline could degrade to the point where it is unusable if left dormant for a matter of months. Those cars (they have a Chrysler now?!) probably shouldn't be running right now, and in the slight chance of one working, it certainly shouldn't hum like a bird, it should be spluttering like a dying Ron...
