7. Everything About The Walkers

The stars of the show this week were the walkers. They waltzed through the streets like an undead homecoming parade, soaking up the terror from the survivors' group. Everything about them in the opening episode was tremendous, in style, purpose, and threat. Right away we were introduced to the brand new quarry setting, and the sight of a pit crawling with walkers was a genuine 'wow' moment. TV effects often leave a lot to be desired, but The Walking Dead team have done a great job. The decomposed fleshy walker peeling its skin away to edge through the truck gap was a signal that these walkers are decaying, but they're just as lethal, and the fact that the walkers are the ultimate threat once again is a great thing.
