The Walking Dead Season 6: 10 Things The Mid-Season Premiere Got Right

7. Gabriel And Denise

Of all the fringe characters who came to the fore (even Rosita got a line!) Gabriel and Denise were two of the standout members. I'll start with the latter. We don't know Denise. If she was killed during the Alexandria massacre we wouldn't have missed her as she was barely seen before it. Now that's all changed and she had proven herself to be a courageous, and potentially vital member of the group thanks to her surgery skills. As for Gabriel, I've been a long-time critic of him for being nothing more than a cowardly passenger. Now he's started to pull his weight, and I actually felt sorry for him in the first half the season when he was utterly ignored by the group despite making an effort. Rick handing Judith to him was a massive step towards redemption for the Father, and hopefully now Gabriel continues his development upwards. The fringe characters need to improve or die; this pair have improved.
