The Walking Dead Season 6: 10 Things The Mid-Season Premiere Got Right

6. The Old Guard

Did anybody else have fond flashbacks when Glenn went through the list of fallen Walking Dead characters from across the seasons? It feels like an age since Carl shot Shane, since The Governor got torn up, since Lori crashed her car on an empty road in the middle of the apocalypse. Fun times. While the show now looks set to become a 'larger world' it was a great touch to include a nod to the old guard. Glenn's pep talk with Enid saw him rattle off the names of 'a man named Dale, Maggie's father Hershel, a woman named Andrea, a man named Tyreese'. It's easy for old characters to fade out of our minds, but bringing back their history strengthens the show and adds a genuine sense of history to it. Subtle, but well played.
