The Walking Dead Season 7: 10 Fatal Mistakes It Must Avoid

7. No More Jarring Time Jumps

One of the weakest parts of Season 6 came after the mid-season drama. Rick watched his love interest Jessie die in brutal fashion - he even had to axe her arm off to prevent Carl being dragged into the mess - yet almost immediately he was seeing Michonne.

It didn't make any sense. None. The drama and chaos and intensity of the mid-season turned to sheer tranquility in no time and Rick's emotional journey with Jessie of the course of a season and a bit was wiped away without a trace.

There's a reason I've included only 'jarring' time jumps though. They can be used subtly and effectively to advance the story, but the show can't just follow up wild intensity with a leap ahead to a entirely different vibe. It's already tough to track how long has actually passed in the new world.
