The Walking Dead Season 7: 5 Ups And 2 Downs From 'New Best Friends'

1. Daryl And Carol's Reunion

With Daryl at the Kingdom, it was inevitable that he'd be reunited with Carol, who is just outside of it. The show built up to the moment nicely, especially with him learning she is the woman living alone and then foiling Richard's plan, but thankfully didn't keep us waiting too long for the reunion to take place.

I don't think the show has a stronger pairing right now (and hasn't for a while), which stems from both the sheer talent of Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, but also the shared history of the two characters, and the way their bond naturally developed (and has remained, for now, platonic) over the course of the show. It's all there on their faces when they see each other, providing the episode with its most emotionally affecting moment.

It continues to pay-off beyond that initial hug though, with Daryl choosing to lie to Carol. It's an interesting decision, but speaks for where both of them are right now. His quest for revenge doesn't match his morals and love for Carol, and while if she heard about the deaths she'd probably leap into action, she doesn't need to do that yet. That will change in time, because obviously Carol's going to join the fight, but the lie was the right choice for now, and added to the emotion of the scene and the bond between the pair.
