The Walking Dead Season 7: 6 Ups And 2 Downs From 'Hostiles And Calamities'

1. The Dwight-Centric Parts

Indeed, all of Dwight's scenes here were rather great. He's become the most well-developed of the Saviours, but is also fast-becoming one of the most fascinating characters to watch on the show as a whole.

We open with him tearing through the Sanctuary upon discovering the disappearance of Daryl and Sherry, then getting a through beatdown from a bunch of Negan's henchmen. It's a solid setup for the episode to come, making him a sympathetic figure, which is a characteristic it plays around with as the episode goes on.

The aforementioned Sherry letter makes you feel for him, but then he completely sets up the doctor, standing silently by as he's threatened with an iron and then thrown into the flames. You can see it on Austin Amelio's face, though, that this is a struggle for him, but he's doing what he can to survive. By the end of the episode he's once again professing himself to be Negan, but the show makes sure we know there's plenty of the real Dwight left in there (further setting up an eventual face-turn).
