The Walking Dead Season 7: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Cell'

6. Groundhog Day

Another interesting jump, this time to Daryl in his cell. It's a far cry from the Daryl we're used to, as he looks like he hasn't washed in days... oh. Well, he looks more shaken than we're used to seeing from him, and devours the dog food sandwich Dwight gives him. It's accompanied by Easy Street, which is again utterly ridiculous, and yet this works as the scene plays over and over and over again.

Daryl is living out a groundhog day existence, and it manages to be both entertaining to watch, and yet difficult because a beloved character is being broken down. It feels like The Walking Dead and simultaneously something completely different, which is a decent achievement for the show. Best of all, though, is the way it serves the story; the attempts to change Daryl, and the strange bond that's developing between him and Dwight.
