The Walking Dead Season 7: 9 Things That Will (Probably) Happen Next

5. Father Gabriel Is A Casualty

The Walking Dead March To War
Gene Page/AMC

Father Gabriel's turnaround has been one of the show's real character arc successes over the last couple of years, as he's gone from a cowardly figure who betrayed Rick, to a man who firmly has his trust.

That, of course, means he is almost certainly going to die.

Gabriel has felt like he was marked for death since we first met hi an unlikely survivor, it was amazing he'd made it that far. Killing him off previously would've been easy, since he wasn't a key part of the show, but also would've been just another cheap Walking Dead death.

Now that they've built him up, and he's done things he would never have thought possible, there's a chance to give him a hero's death. He wouldn't be as useful in the upcoming war as many of the other characters, but will no doubt still want to join in, and seems a fair bet to be one of its early casualties.
