The scars from the Season 6 finale are still visible. After a lot of brilliant build-up, it cut away from the big death scene, saving it instead for the Season 7 premiere and giving everyone plenty of time to correctly guess it'd be at least one of Glenn and Abraham.

The producers have said that there will be a more concrete resolution to this year's finale, and I have to hope they're true to their word rather than deliberately misleading us. After all, while the cliffhanger pissed people off, it brought in 17 million viewers for the premiere.

Even accepting that this episode is essentially a prologue for the war to come, there's a way of doing that and having a definite ending to the season, and this episode needs to make sure it does that.
