The Walking Dead Season 7: Ranking Every Major Character From Worst To Best

3. Daryl

Daryl Dixon remains, even in Season 7, the series' most popular character, and it's not really that hard to see why. Norman Reedus is pretty great in the role, and Daryl's fighting spirit - which of course is what gets Glenn killed - endears him to viewers.

This season marks different territory for him though, as he's taken prisoner and, just like Rick, broken down - to the point where he's being treated like a dog.

He retains both his bark and his bite though, with a thrilling escape sequence, and it's hard not to feel a sense of joy when he breaks free, and genuine emotion when he reunited with Rick. That's doubled when he's brought back together with Carol, and the fact he lies to protect her means he only goes up in estimations.

He provides a real spark of excitement when he appears, but there's a wounded animal vibe to him this season as well, and a whole lot of heart too, all of which combines to make him one of the series' most interesting players.
