The Walking Dead Season 7: Ranking Every Major Character From Worst To Best

2. Dwight

While we first met Dwight last year, he goes up a whole new level in Season 7, which puts plenty of focus on the character and his fraught allegiance with Negan and the other Saviours.

He moves from being just a bad guy version of Daryl - though there is still definitely that air to him - into being a fleshed-out, complex, and rather tragic figure in his own right.

He's by some distance the most sympathetic of the Saviours even before his face-turn, and you can clearly see the inner-conflict etched in Austin Amelio's face, such as when he lets the doctor take the blame. The scene in the cabin, where he finds Sherry's note, is an emotional highpoint of the season, and it all pays off when he goes over to Rick's side, with plenty of intriguing directions to move forward in.
