The Walking Dead Season 8: 5 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Some Guy'

1. Shiva, Well, Dies

Yes, Shiva's death was a good moment, but it's one of those that also works against the show in some regards. For a start, it robs us of the badass tiger and the many awesome action sequences that could bring to the table, and of which we've seen nowhere near enough. It was also, as previously mentioned, a bit on the predictable side.

It also speaks to the show's problem with characterisation. Shiva is awesome and her death is sad, far more so than the majority of human deaths would be. Again, that's because animals are better than humans, but like with Tabitha's sad demise it's a realisation of how little any of the cast beyond its core have been developed, which is one of the reasons the stakes of the war so far haven't felt high enough. (But also it's just a massive shame not to have a tiger around anymore.)
