The Walking Dead Season 8: 6 Reasons To Be Excited (& 3 To Be Worried)

As mentioned, Season 8 will be working from the comic book storyline All Out War, and that's a pretty big cause for excitement. Collected in volumes 20 and 21 of the graphic novel, it spans 12 issues in total, and is some of the most epic, ambitious storytelling attempted in the series.

There's no guarantee it'll translate, since the show and comic are very different beasts, but it should at least mean the show trying something different and aiming for something more.

There is, of course, plenty of graphic violence, but it occurs in some inventive ways, and there's moments of clever strategy and warfare tactics among the chaos, with twists and turns along the way. It's not a story about survival, which we've seen so much of over seven seasons, but one of taking back control and, even better, offering some hope, which the show could really use right now.
