The Walking Dead Season 8: 6 Reasons To Be Excited (& 3 To Be Worried)

1. A Time Jump

The Season 8 trailer unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con was an excellent tease of what's in store; a fun, action-packed couple of minutes that nicely set the scene for the coming episodes. But for all of that, the attention and hype focused solely on the very end, and for one clear reason:

Old Man Rick.

The trailer ended with a visibly aged and injured Rick waking up in bed, immediately setting the internet alight with theories. It means we're almost certainly seeing the time jump from the comics, though how it'll play out in the show remains unclear.

That itself is exciting though. It means the show is, to a degree, taking a fresh approach, and even with the clues to gives about All Out War - it at least mean Rick survives, if nothing else - it opens up the door to new storytelling opportunities, showing us the future but also continuing its story in the present (or what becomes the past, depending on how the jump works).
