And the callbacks just keep on coming!
Remember the orange backpack? We have seen it on Glenn and Daryl in seasons past, but it found its way home to Carl for TWD's centenary celebration.
The rather ugly accessory belonged to a hitchhiker who Rick, Michonne and Carl ignored in season three’s Clear - another classic episode well worthy of a hat tip.
On their way home to the prison, after an eye-opening encounter with an unhinged Morgan, Rick drove past a trail of blood which led to the abandoned backpack on the roadside.
Carl hopped out the car to collect the backpack, and there it was again 69 episodes later, over his shoulder as he returned to the gas station to leave food for Siddiq.
