The Walking Dead Season 8: 9 Things We Learned From SDCC 2017

Honourable Mention: A FTWD Crossover Is Possible One Day

Although not related to Season 8 specifically, there was talk about The Walking Dead's sister show, Fear The Walking Dead (whose panel preceded TWD's).

One of the big discussion points around that show since its inception has been whether or not it'll link up with the main series, despite the different timelines, and it's a question that arose again at Comic-Con. According to Robert Kirkman, who serves as executive producer, it is an avenue they're exploring:

"I think that it's something we'd love to try and work out. I think the fans would love it. It's complicated because of that gap but it's something we'd love to do eventually."

Also in terms of details that could impact both shows, Kirkman ruled out any chance of a cure ever being found, saying: "In terms of actually trying to solve this thing, I've always thought that one of the best things about this show is that it's not about scientists. It's not about people who would take a task [to find a cure]... This show is about people and their struggles to survive."
