The Walking Dead Season 8 Spoilers: 10 Things You Need To Know About All Out War

2. Negan

The Walking Dead All Out War Negan Rick
Image Comics

Much like he is on-screen, Negan is a dominating presence in the pages of the comic book, which is probably a given since he's the main villain (though he does work better in print).

While he's at the forefront of many of the Saviours major attacks, including turning Holly into a walker, bombing Alexandria, capturing Eugene, it's the assault on Hilltop, and what comes after it, that truly stands out here.

Having Dwight shoot Rick with a crossbow, he believes the war is over, as there's no way the others will fight back after such a loss. His confidence is his undoing though, as much to his shock Rick later emerges alive for a final confrontation.

Rick refuses to go back to the way things were, and instead proposes they move forward with a barter system: the communities will continue to provide for the Sanctuary, but they must also provide for them, building up a trade between all of the communities that will serve everyone. Surprisingly, Negan eventually comes round to the idea and sees that Rick is right... at which point Rick cuts his throat open.

Negan starts bleeding out, but is still able to tackle Rick, give him a good beating, and break his leg. He doesn't die from his wounds either, being saved by Dr Carson, and made a prisoner at Alexandria.

Will this happen on the show? To a point, yes. Indeed, it'd be immensely gratifying to see Rick get this chance of a showdown with Negan and slit his throat, but whether or not the latter survives is a different matter. Even as a prisoner he's a looming presence, but would Jeffrey Dean Morgan really spend such a large amount of time sitting around in a prison cell? Factor in the mixed reception to Negan, and it could mean he is completely killed off, which would serve as a major shock to end things on for everybody.
