The Walking Dead Season 9: 4 Ups & 1 Down From 'The Bridge'

3. Plenty Of Screen Time For Every Character

The Walking Dead has far too many characters, and designating screen time to each and every one of them has long been a problem for the writers. In the past, the showrunners devoted lengthy, boring episodes to certain characters in order to ensure that nobody was overlooked. The show's general viewing population understandably didn't react to well to those episodes.

The new era of TWD shows a dramatic improvement in the screen-time department. Again, delegating a piece of the script to each and every character is no doubt a tough job, but it's ultimately handled really well in The Bridge. Rick, Daryl, Carol and Maggie are at the centre of things as always, but they're by no means the only protagonists of this hour. Characters like Jesus, Aaron, and Jerry are given moments to shine and develop.

It would appear as if the show is preparing to become a multi-protagonist piece following Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan's departures, and if this is the case, then The Bridge is certainly an indication of what's to come.
