The Walking Dead Season 9: 5 Ups & 1 Down From 'What Comes After'

4. Maggie's Growth

While the focus of What Comes After is largely on Rick and his departure, he isn't the only character to receive a lot of screen-time. Maggie does some searching of her own, and finds herself at Alexandria, ready to claim the revenge that Rick robbed from her when he chose to let Negan live.

The Widow has been on quite a journey herself this season, and has made some rash decisions and chosen a darker path, but she manages to reclaim some of her former humanity during What Comes After when she refrains from murdering Negan in the same fashion that he killed Glenn.

Surprisingly, What Comes After is not only Andrew Lincoln's final episode, but also Lauren Cohan's, meaning that we won't be seeing Maggie again - at least not yet, anyway. We know from the preview that there will be yet another time jump (a bigger one, signified by Carol's incredibly long hair) which will likely explain her absence.
