4. The Show Has Been Rebooted
AMC was pretty generous with the first look at Season 9, giving us a 5 minute-long trailer. Unlike previous seasons, the producers are keeping a lot of information close to their chest, and this trailer was more of a teaser, as it didn't give too much away. However, it's pretty clear from the short preview that The Walking Dead has been rebooted.
The whole tone of the show feels different (and somewhat uplifting compared to previous season), the setting stands out for the first time in years and Rick and Carol have significantly different hairstyles.
The show also looks visually different. The Walking Dead is shot on film, which gives the show that gritty, grainy look. However, the show appears glossier this time around, and the grain has been significantly reduced - but perhaps that's just for the trailer. Either way, the series looks much different than it has in recent seasons, which will hopefully make it feel fresh again.
