The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs From "Gone"

2. Up: Danai Gurira Is Still A Powerhouse

The Ones Who Live
AMC

Much like Andrew Lincoln (and again shocking absolutely no one), Danai Gurira has slipped back into her most famous role with impressive ease, adding such depth to an already compelling character that you can't look away.

As Michonne, Gurira is as stern, hard and hopeful as ever, but on her journey the various roadblocks in her path throw her into her darkest hole yet, forcing the actress to find more determination and strength than ever before. Look at the way she powers through the pain after the gas attack, healing her body, and you might cheer.

Gurira is so excellent in the role, in fact, that it can be easy to miss what she's doing: When she's befriending Nat, her defences are up but her heart is open; when she enters the CRM and pretends to be the defenceless "Dana" (Carol would be proud), she's meek but crafty, taking in her surroundings, looking for blindspots and clues.

Now that she and Lincoln are sharing the screen once more, her performance may get even better yet. Speaking of which...
