The West Wing Cast: Where Are They Now?
1. Bradley Whitford - Josh Lyman
Josh Lyman became
something of the de facto lead character towards the end of the West Wing’s
run, playing a lead role in the Santos’ campaign as the Bartlet administration,
in which he served as Deputy Chief Of Staff, began to wind down and characters
like the President and Toby began to take a back seat to newer cast members.
His quippy and ultimately romantic relationship with Donna was always a highlight of the show, which always depicted him as ultimately likable despite the knots that his stubbornness and frustration would create.
It’s somewhat scary that Whitford is now in his sixties given that Josh was considered youthful in the world of politics, but he has been able to consistently work on interesting and high-profile projects alike in the years since The West Wing ended.
He led Sorkin’s Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, was an excellent part of Get Out (“I would have voted for Obama for a third time if I could”), has worked alongside Godzilla and Steven Spielberg and recurred on a handful of popular and acclaimed television series, including Brooklyn Nine Nine and the aforementioned Elisabeth Moss-starring The Handmaid’s Tale. He'll next be seen in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut, playing musical theatre heavyweight Stephen Sondheim.
