The West Wing Cast: Where Are They Now?
2. Allison Janney - C.J. Cregg
Allison Janney took
home more Emmys than any of her West Wing co-stars, winning four from six
nominations in total. The fact that she graduated from the Supporting Actress
to the Leading Actress category is indicative of how important Press Secretary
turned Chief Of Staff C.J. Cregg became to the show over time and Janney’s
performances are amongst those held in the highest regard by critics and fans.
Arguably the most successful West Wing alumni, appearing in an average of around two or three films per year, Janney has been prolific in the years since series concluded. She won three more Emmys for her roles in Mom (now in its eighth season) and Masters Of Sex, as well as the Oscar (and the BAFTA and Golden Globe) for Best Supporting Actress for her appearance in I, Tonya.
Her non-award winning filmography includes the likes of American Beauty and 10 Things I Hate About You (pre-West Wing) and Lost, Juno, Minions and Finding Nemo/Dory (concurrent with and post West Wing). Whilst she has just a single film upcoming at the moment, the offers will surely come flooding in once more when Hollywood returns to pre-Covid levels of production.
