The West Wing Cast: Where Are They Now?

Admiral Fitzwallace was a regular presence in the White House Situation Room across the West Wing's first four seasons, advising President Bartlet on any military matters in his role as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Though a flashback insinuated at a previously tempestuous relationship between the two (with Bartlet remarking on his will to fire the man), this was never explored and only one built on respect was ever shown ahead of Fitz’s death in the Gaza terrorist attack that rounded off the fifth season.

Having turned to acting after failing to make the grade as an American football player, John Amos already had 30 years of experience under his belt by the time the series came around, having most notably appeared in the likes of Roots, Good Times and as one of the two villains in Die Hard 2.

He has continued to work consistently throughout the years, appearing on screen and on stage in a host of minor roles. He will reprise his role as Cleo McDowell in the upcoming Coming 2 America, a sequel to the 1980s Eddie Murphy comedy classic, whilst his IMDB page shows three other projects in pre-production, indicating that he has no intention of slowing down at 80 years of age.
