The Witcher: Casting Upcoming Characters

2. Bonhart – Daniel Bernhardt

The Witcher Dijkstra
CD Projekt RED/Summit Entertainment

Bonhart is the anti-Geralt – a mercenary with no morals who tortures and generally makes the life of Ciri worse.

From his description in the book, the character seems incredibly similar to Game of Thrones’ The Hound, at least visually. Even with the cast members of that show The Witcher has brought over, the ultimate aim seems to be something different to the HBO giant, so simply getting Rory McCann would feel like a massive cop out.

Instead, Netflix should employ the talents of Daniel Bernhardt. Bernhardt is a veteran of Hollywood action movies, having appeared in everything from The Matrix to John Wick to movies that do not feature Keanu Reeves. His physicality and martial arts/stunt experience would make him a great physical opposite to Henry Cavill, and his experience at playing coarse villains would give him the necessary talents to convey the character’s savagery.

I mean, if the man can appear a suitable threat to John Wick, then he can certainly appear a suitable threat to Geralt.
