The Witcher Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
2. Henry Cavill Makes For A Solid Geralt
Geralt is a bit of a tough nut to crack for an actor, because the character as written in the books is, well, a bit insufferable, while in the video games he's gruff to the point of comedy.
Thankfully Henry Cavill is a fan of the games himself, and aided by a script which makes Geralt more of a stoic charmer, is able to deliver a rock solid rendition of the iconic character.
Granted, Geralt is still nowhere near as interesting or likeable as either Yennefer or Ciri, but Cavill brings him to the screen with real presence - especially when he's kicking ass or, well, shirtless (which he is a lot).
