The Witcher Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

4. The Superb Musical Score

The Witcher
Netflix

The one single aspect of the show that never falters is the excellent musical score from composers Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli.

It so perfectly evokes the pulpy mood of the source material, and while there are always going to be those comparing the music to Ramin Djawadi's acclaimed score for Game of Thrones, their work is thankfully very much its own thing.

Belousova and Ostinelli used 64 instruments in total to craft a score which sets the show's mood perfectly, both in its frothier, lighter scenes and also during its darker and more serious ones.

While so many fantasy IP unfortunately defer to generic and unremarkable musical scores, that's thankfully not the case here.

And yes, Jaskier aka Dandelion's (Joey Batey) songs about Geralt's adventures are as fantastically catchy as you'd hope for, too.
