The Witcher Season 2: 10 Monsters We Want To See

7. The Botchling

Part of what makes mythological creatures so fascinating is their connection to tales of morality and tragedy. Throughout history, stories and monsters have been generated out of societal fears or anxieties, and it's often most tragic when they are associated with infants. The botchling is a creature that falls in line with this, as while it's a disgusting and horrifying looking monster, the story behind it is what makes it tragic.

A botchling is a creature that results from the improper burial of an unwanted/still-born infant. The way to rid yourself of this creature is to battle its aggressive form or perform a ritual that resolves it of pain and accepts it as your true child. Naturally, such a story can be truly heartbreaking, as can be clearly seen in the Bloody Baron arc from The Witcher 3.

Seeing a live-action version of this tragic beast would be compelling, as its deformed features will easily gross you out, but you'll be incredibly invested in seeing whether Geralt can save it from its torment. It would no doubt lead to an emotional and memorable moment for the series.
