The Witcher Season 2: 10 Monsters We Want To See
6. Succubus
The succubus is an incredibly persistent piece of mythology, folklore and even religion. It acts as a manifestation of seduction, trickery and manipulation. Additionally, the erotic undertones of the creature have led to it becoming an integral piece of moral storytelling and a means to explore plenty of interesting concepts about love, sex and lust.
This creatures mythological context has always painted it as a demonic figure that seeks to lure and drain their victims. The Witcher approaches them differently by painting the beasties less like demons and more just creatures who seek to live peacefully.
However, their lives aren't always full of peace as they feed off of the energy from the prey they seduce. While they are not strictly speaking violent, they often end up leading to the death of their victims by completely sapping them of energy in an almost vampiric way.
Viewers have seen Geralt battle against foes that can overpower him. They've even seen him fight against ones that can outsmart him, but the series could benefit from exploring what happens when a creature that is prone to the art of seduction becomes the target of his silver sword.
