The X-Files: 10 Things Every Fan Needs To Know About The New Episodes
10. The First Episode Is A Struggle
Relax, it's a struggle in the best possible way. The new series opens with an episode written and directed by show creator Chris Carter, and it's called My Struggle". Whilst it's a good bet that it won't be a struggle to watch, the events of the must-see première are sure to be harrowing for the characters involved. For a start, X-Philes can expect to see Fox Mulder having difficulties with his post-FBI life, and there's a certain supporting character in the opening episode who's undergoing a deeply unsettling experience in the finest of X-Files' traditions. Carter is actually writing and directing three episodes of the new season, including the finale as well as the opening instalment. As might be expected, his episodes will feature large doses of the X-Files mythology, including alien implants and the welcome returns of some very familiar faces. But don't worry about who's handling the remaining three episodes - James Wong, Glen Morgan, and Darin Morgan, all veterans of the original series, are supplying scripts. These guys helped define the tone of the X-Files in the early days and even created popular supporting characters the Lone Gunmen. Need more convincing that these are the right writers for the job? Darin Morgan won an Emmy for the script of his 1995 episode, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose. He also happens to be the brother of Glen Morgan and - brace yourself for a shock - played the nightmarish Fluke Man in the 1994 story The Host.
