The X-Files: 10 Things To Expect From The Revival

2. An Open Ending

Do not expect The X-Files mythology to be wrapped up in a neat little bow at the end of this revival. With just two episodes penciled in to address the show's conspiracy arc, it would practically be impossible to do it right in such a short amount of time. In reality, the show already tried that in season nine, with the underwhelming finale of the original series, The Truth. Instead, expect some answers, some hints, and things to be left fairly open-ended. It seems clear from interviews with David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and series creator Chris Carter that all are willing to come back for even more episodes moving forward - and that may be what the show is banking on. The problem? If the new episodes don't catch on, and a second season isn't optioned, fans may be left, yet again, with an unfinished story.
