Appeared in: Season 2, Episode 14 - "Die Hand Die Verletzt" The fact that she has human eyes in her desk drawer is probably a sign that Mrs. Paddock isn't someone you really want to get to know - but for as much as we knew her in the second season episode 'Die Hand Die Verletzt" (German for "the hand that wounds"), we certainly enjoyed our time with her. A fantastically creepy character, there is something reptilian about Mrs. Paddock, a substitute teacher at a high school being plagued by rumours of devil worship and human sacrifice right from the start - though it isn't shown outright til the very end of the episode. Paddock in initially played up as a caring supply teacher, brought in at the school as Mulder and Scully investigate claims of devil worship, but she is quickly revealed to be behind the evil taking place at the school and in the local community - and in the end, she uses her otherworldly powers to compel fellow black magic practitioners in the town to kill themselves. At the same time, Scully manages to uncover that Mrs. Paddock is not what she seems, having no background to her - but by then it's too late. She leaves the world of The X-Files as mysteriously as she entered it, leaving a simple message on the classroom blackboard for our heroes before vanishing: "Goodbye. It's been nice working with you."
