Most curious of all is how prominently William B. Davis' The Smoking Man features in the promotional material just released. The character, if you recall, was shot in the face in the final episode of The X-Files, entitled The Truth. Shot in the face - with a missile launched from a helicopter. We actually watched his flesh burn from his bones. So it's awfully difficult to bring him back, but if there's a show that resurrect a character who suffered such a clear death, it's The X-Files. It's interesting to note that this poster clearly shows The Smoking Man in his old age, yet an earlier trailer clip seems to imply that we'll be seeing him in a flashback of some sort. The good news is, he appears in the very first episode, entitled My Struggle - which recently premiered in Cannes to rave reviews, so it looks as if X-Files fans are in for quite a ride come January!
