The X-Files Season 11: 10 Things We Learned From The New Trailer

7. The Agents No Longer Trust Walter Skinner

One of the strangest parts of last season's short X-Files run was the fact that Mulder and Scully seemed to butt heads with Walter Skinner, now a full director at the F.B.I. This was especially true of Fox Mulder.

Over the years, Skinner has long proven to be one of their greatest allies, one of the very few men they could trust. Oddly, it seems that trust is gone, though why that is has yet to be explained. It very much stands out in the new trailer, with the duo meeting Skinner in a parking garage and Scully commenting that "we need your help, even if we don't trust you."

Skinner, meanwhile, says what we're all thinking: "How did we get here?"

The loss of trust between the agents and their boss will need to be explained, given the number of times he has literally saved their lives over the years. It's very possible that it's a red herring, or at least a minor plotline that probably will be tied up in due course, but it still stands out from the rest of the action in the trailer.
