5. The Stakes Have Never Been Higher
Remember that line the Smoking Man said to Skinner? "Civilization is in its final stages." While he might be the father of lies, he's probably telling the truth about that. As his old pal Deep Throat once said, "a lie is most conveniently hidden between two truths."
Cut scenes of crowded streets pepper The X-Files Season 11 trailer, and Mulder confirms the stakes later in the sequence, telling a new, shadowy figure "You want to see blood in the streets. The extermination of seven billion people."
Woah. The stakes clearly have never been higher. It's likely the show is finally moving towards some sort of end-game with the whole colonization story (that doesn't mean there can't be future X-Files outings, or a spin-off, but it's time this storyline was tied up).
Towards the end of the trailer, we hear Scully implore Mulder that "you have to find him, you have to stop him, before he unleashes hell on earth" presumably in regards to the Smoking Man. Again - high stakes, world ending stuff.
