FoxRather than a direct sequel series, or continuing on with the original, why not introduce a second X-Files unit, right alongside the main series (which could also continue to run in some form)? Think CSI or Law & Order on this one. Those franchises have excelled by spreading out the stories to additional units. The X-Files could easily establish a second unit. It could even be specialized: one dealing in fringe science (Fringe did just that, and was an excellent series in its own right), one dealing specifically with alien sightings, etc. Or just a second unit in a different part of the country, as Mulder and Scully have always been based out of Washington, but travel an awful lot, which can't be cost effective.
