Before the series was even on the radar a Podcat entitled Joe Exotic: Tiger King was put out on Wondery. This six-episode podcast, more with bonus episodes, covered the story of Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin in more detail with six years of interviews with the key players by host Robert Moor.

Last autumn Kate McKinnon signed up to Executive Produce and star in a limited series based on the podcast. McKinnon will play Baskin in the show. The show does not have a network yet, so word on the release is unknown, along with information on who will be starring alongside McKinnon. The role of Exotic is a coveted one right now and there will likely be a number of contenders and whether McKinnon will go with another comedian or a more serious actor is unknown.

With McKinnon at the helm, it is possible this series will be more sympathetic to Baskin, who was given a somewhat biased depiction in the Netflix which leant very heavily on the idea that she was responsible for her husband's disappearance. The show will likely capitalise on the buzz surrounding the documentary and hopefully premier sometime this year if not early nest year, but we will have to wait and see.
